Helping young doctors improve hypertension management through interactive learning

The challenge: raising awareness about hypertension
Hypertension (HTN) is the world’s leading risk factor for mortality. Yet in France, HTN management has been declining in recent years.
To address this public health challenge, it was essential to design an innovative, engaging, and effective format to involve young doctors, who are particularly receptive to digital and interactive tools.
A playful experience built on Ludiz
We designed a medical serious game, entirely created and delivered on the Ludiz platform.
The scenario is built around the HypeX, invisible creatures that feed on behaviors and risk factors contributing to hypertension.
Players take on the role of young recruits from the HTA-Watch organization, tasked with tracking down the HypeX and protecting the population.
In just 30 minutes, they progress through three interactive chapters combining storytelling, quizzes, and practical case studies.
A three-chapter journey
Chapter 1 – Discovering the HypeX
This chapter introduces hypertension with key figures, definitions, and the HypeX as playful metaphors for risk factors and unhealthy behaviors.
Chapter 2 – The HypeX in action
Here, three fictional characters are presented, each affected by different HypeX. Players must identify the relevant factors and propose appropriate solutions.
Chapter 3 – Intervention and strategy
An evolving case study follows a female patient across several years. Players must answer clinical questions and build a personalized care strategy, with the scenario adapting to their choices.
Benefits of the HTN serious game
✅ Active learning: knowledge acquisition through challenges and real-world situations.
✅ Immersive experience: a memorable narrative universe with the HypeX.
✅ Tailored to young doctors: short, interactive, and engaging format.
✅ Measurable impact: quizzes and interactions assess knowledge in real time.
Expected results
- Improved awareness of HTN and its risks.
- Better adoption of best practices for patient management.
- A training tool that can be replicated at congresses, medical events, or in e-learning.
Conclusion
With this project, we have demonstrated that medical training and interactive games can be combined effectively.
Hypertension remains a major public health issue, and offering innovative, immersive formats is the best way to engage young doctors.
