Hybrid physical and digital

When digital becomes the thread running through the experience

Some experiences are better off the screen.

Boards, cards, objects, sets or event installations can be paired with a digital interface designed as a real game companion.

It guides participants, unlocks clues, plays audio or video and links the stages together for a smoother, more immersive and richer experience.

Some projects we delivered

Augmented board game · LOFP

Filière pêche: the game!

Discovering a whole industry through a physical and digital game

Brief

LOFP wanted a playful tool to introduce the careers of the Loire fishing industry and the fish's journey, from the ocean to the plate.

The set-up had to be easy to carry, usable at trade shows as well as in schools, and come in both a physical and a digital version.

Solution

We imagined a hybrid game mixing cards, objects, puzzles and a tablet.

Here the tablet is a real game companion: it gives the instructions, collects the answers, offers clues and can bring in audio or video to enrich the experience.

Hands-on business tools · Dassault Systèmes

An investigation from the future

Getting people to use the tools through a mission

Brief

For a TechDay bringing together Dassault Systèmes and Renault teams, the goal was a playful activity showcasing their collaboration and the SIMULIA solutions.

Above all, the game had to give participants a concrete reason to use the tools, rather than just discover them through a demonstration.

Solution

We imagined a collaborative investigation around a mysterious event from the future.

To move forward, participants had to solve several puzzles and use Dassault Systèmes tools to explore 3D environments, compare situations and find what they needed to crack the case.

The digital side became a real game tool, built into a shared in-person experience.

Seminar · Sodexo

The Super Heroes Academy

Discovering the Group's offers through play

Brief

Sodexo wanted to run a seminar for 140 senior executives around a playful, participative format.

The goal: explore the Group's offers, raise awareness of the transformation and food-transition challenges, and create a real moment of team spirit.

Solution

We designed The Super Heroes Academy, a hybrid escape game mixing a tablet and physical challenges.

In teams, participants moved between several spaces representing Sodexo's business units. The app guided them all the way, paced the stages, started the timers, gave clues and gathered the answers. It also computed scores in real time and set up a proper final podium.

Confidential content: no public demo.

The best of both worlds

The physical side brings presence, hands-on play and conversation. The digital side brings pace, content, tracking and interaction.

Combined, they open up far freer experiences: an augmented board game, an event trail, a kiosk, connected objects or an interactive set.

Got an idea that deserves to leave the screen? Let's find the right balance between physical and digital together.
