Game mechanics

Connect, pull the right wire

Two columns side by side. The player draws a wire from each item to its match, then submits.

Describe your game: the assistant builds it, you fine-tune it.

How it works

Matching is the old workbook exercise, brought to life. Players take in the whole board at a glance, work by elimination and adjust their links before they submit. They are not ticking an answer, they are building connections.

Each side can hold text, images or audio. A word and its definition, a photo and its name, a cause and its effect: the same mechanic covers vocabulary, visual recognition and reasoning.

For the player

  1. 1The player sees two columns of text, images or audio.
  2. 2They tap an item and then its match across the board, or drag a wire from one to the other. To change a link, they grab the end of the wire and move it.
  3. 3They submit: right wires turn green, wrong ones red.

What you set

  • Fill in the left and right columns with text, images or audio.
  • For each item on the right, pick its match on the left from a list.
  • Set the display order of each column by drag and drop, and the aspect ratio for images.
  • Set the tries, the points and the timer, 30 seconds by default.
  • Add hints, a context image or video, and your own success and fail messages.

Ideas for using it

  • Chemical safety

Match each hazard symbol with the precaution it calls for.

  • Who does what

Pair each department with its role so new hires know who to ask.

  • Safety reflexes

Connect a risky situation with the right way to respond.

  • Customer care

Match short call recordings with the type of request they show.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a matching game online?

In the Ludiz editor, add a Connect step, fill in both columns and pick the left-hand match for each item on the right. The AI assistant can also build the step from a description, images included.

Can I match images with text?

Yes. Every item can be text, an image or audio, on either side. With images, the columns can turn into rows to give the pictures more room.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. On a touchscreen, players tap an item and then its match, no dragging needed. The game runs in the browser, with no app to install.
