Game mechanicsObject to search: look closely, then decide
Players walk up to an object found in a scene, examine it in close-up and choose whether to pick it up. The right object goes to their inventory, a decoy can cost them points.
How it works
Object to search is the companion of point and click. An area in your scene opens a close-up of an object: a badge, a USB stick, a fire extinguisher. Players look at it, zoom in, then press the button to pick it up.
The whole point is the decision, because some objects are decoys. Players have to know what to keep and what to leave behind, which makes it a good vigilance exercise. You add each object by hand in the editor, then link it to your scenes.
For the player
- 1From a scene, the player clicks an area and sees the object full screen, with its name and a short description. They can zoom in to examine it.
- 2They press the action button, such as “Pick up”, or go back if they think it is a trap.
- 3A message explains the outcome. The right object goes to the inventory at the top of the screen; a decoy counts as a mistake.
What you set
- Upload the object image and a thumbnail for the inventory, then choose the background color and crop level.
- Mark it as a real object or a decoy, and set the points it adds or takes away.
- Customize the button label (“Pick up”, “Take”, “Report”) and the success and failure messages that explain the right reflex.
- In the game settings, set how many objects must be collected and which step players go to once they reach that goal.
- In the theme settings, show the inventory as a counter or as thumbnails.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a hidden object game online?
Create a Point & click scene, then an Object to search step for each object. Link each object to an area of the scene so players find it by clicking there.
What is a decoy object?
An object players should not pick up. If they take it, the step counts as a failure and you can take points away.
What happens when every object is found?
In the game settings, you set the number of objects to collect and the step that comes next. Players are sent there as soon as they reach that goal.
