Game mechanicsOpen question
No options to pick from. Players type their answer, and Ludiz checks it against the ones you accept.
Describe your game: the assistant builds it, you fine-tune it.
How it works
An open question shows a single text field. Players have to come up with the answer on their own, with no list of choices to lean on.
Recalling a word takes more effort than recognizing it among four options, and that effort is what makes it stick. An adjustable tolerance keeps a simple typo from costing points. The AI assistant can build this step from a description.
For the player
- 1Players read the question, with an image, video or audio next to it if you added one.
- 2They type their answer in the field, then submit or press Enter.
- 3The field shows whether the answer was accepted. If not, they can try again as long as they have tries left.
What you set
- Enter the accepted answer or answers, separated by semicolons (for example: 911;nine one one).
- Set the similarity threshold (80% by default) to accept small typos, or set it to 100% to require an exact match.
- Choose whether to ignore capitalization, and whether to accept any answer that simply contains one of the expected words.
- Add a label above the field, hints and a timer, and set tries and points.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add an open-ended question to an online quiz?
Add an Open question step in the Ludiz editor, write the question and enter the accepted answers. The quiz plays in a browser or on a phone.
Does a spelling mistake count as wrong?
That's up to you. The similarity threshold accepts answers close to the right one, and you can ignore capitalization.
Can I accept more than one correct answer?
Yes. Separate them with semicolons and each one is accepted. You can also accept any answer that contains one of the expected words.
