An escape game on disability at work

Inès, the disability officer, has turned the offices into an escape game. In each room, a colleague and a misconception: your teams search, choose what to do, and collect the four letters that unlock the meeting room.

What your teams will go through

  1. 1

    The lobby

Four doors, and a meeting room locked with a four-letter padlock. Each room gives one letter.

  2. 2

The open space: “you can always see a disability”

Malik, who is hard of hearing, lost track during the meeting without daring to say so. What do you suggest for the next one?

  3. 3

The workshop: “adapting a workstation is complicated”

Josiane is coming back to work after back surgery. Who do you turn to, and who pays for adapting her workstation?

  4. 4

The cafeteria: “she doesn't look ill”

Two colleagues question Camille's working hours and ask you to take sides. What do you tell them?

  5. 5

The HR office: “the employer has to know”

Sofiane is unsure whether to mention his recognised disability status. A true-or-false round to sort out what is mandatory from what isn't.

What they take away

  • 80% of disabilities are invisible.
  • A few simple settings, like captions and taking turns to speak, make a meeting accessible.
  • The occupational doctor can have a workstation assessed, and dedicated bodies can fund its adaptation.
  • Disability status is confidential: disclosing it to an employer is never mandatory, and nobody has to say what their condition is.
  • Employers can have hiring obligations and must provide reasonable adjustments: check your local regulations.

When to run it

The European Disability Employment Week runs from November 16 to 22, 2026, with DuoDay on Thursday 19th. The game kicks off the week, and all year round it raises a team's awareness or prepares for a colleague's arrival.

Frequently asked questions

Do players need an account?

No. The game opens in the browser, on a computer or a phone, with no sign-up or install.

How long does a game take?

About fifteen minutes: the lobby, four rooms in any order, then the final padlock.

Is the information reliable?

Each fact sheet in the game cites its source, from French organisations and law. Disability rules vary by country: have them reviewed by your disability officer, and adapted to local regulations, before you share the game.

Can we adapt it to our company?

Yes: when adapting it, the editor's assistant changes the names, places, situations and text, adds your logo and colours, and can add your disability officer's contact details.

Why an escape game?

Because we remember what we've lived through: each misconception is debunked in a situation, facing a colleague, before it is explained. And a wrong answer never blocks the game.
